Elders

We believe that the best model for Church leadership is one that is called for in God's word.  Therefore, our Church family is lead by Elders who oversee the activities of the church. Before stepping into this role, potential elders are nominated and submit themselves to a comprehensive background check and spiritual screening. The current Elders interview candidates and decide on finalists for this position. Each finalist is presented to the congregation for review against Biblical qualifications for Elders before being placed into this role.

 

Responsibilities

 

Church elders fulfill a variety of duties at the church, such as providing spiritual oversight for the church leaders and members, directing the congregation toward available resources, praying for congregation members and managing church business. Spiritual oversight consists of evaluating the teachings of pastors and Bible study leaders and actively engaging church members to determine their spritual needs and helping meet those needs through teaching, counselling, and discipleship . Directing the congregation includes setting the vision and direction of the Church, assisting in conflict resolution between church members or leaders, and responding to comments from others. Praying for congregation members includes recognizing those who are struggling physically, mentally or financially, and praying for them or with them. Church elders also manage church business, such as reviewing and approving the church budget and providing oversight to staff and lay leaders.
